Salterns Academy Trust is committed to providing an excellent and inclusive education for every student across all its schools. The Trust currently operates three schools—Admiral Lord Nelson School Trafalgar School and Mayfield School —serving over 3,700 aged 4 -16 students in primary and secondary settings across the North island area of Portsmouth.

Our dedicated Central IT Team works across all schools in the Trust, playing a vital role in supporting teaching, learning, and operations through the delivery and maintenance of high-quality IT services.

We are now seeking a proactive and skilled Trust IT Services Lead with a genuine passion for technology and its potential to enhance educational outcomes. If you have at least one years’ experience in delivering a full range of IT support in a dynamic environment and are excited by the opportunity to contribute to the success of our schools we would love to hear from you.

 

Key purpose of the role:
  • To lead and deliver front line IT support for students and staff to ensure consistent ICT delivery across a trust school

  • To enable student’s access to learning by providing technical advice and support in the practical and technical aspects of the curriculum by preparing, maintaining and organising equipment and materials

  • Working with the Trust Network Manager to support the strategic plan of the IT development needs and improvement priorities to ensure state of the art IT facilities

  • To daily review internet access and device use to ensure effective safeguarding is taking place

  • To lead the monitoring, technical and maintenance aspects of the Chromebook Lease Scheme

  • Administer IT provision to a high standard ensuring that it meets the needs of the school

Overview of what you will be doing:
  • Provide centralised expert advice and guidance to Leaders on a wide range of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence. Ensuring fairness and alignment with employment law and company policies.

  • Deliver centralised HR support by building trusted relationships, maintaining consistency in approach and collaborating closely with the People Director.

  • Attend and support formal hearings (disciplinary, grievance, capability) as the HR representative, ensuring due process is followed and outcomes are documented appropriately.

  • Develop your skills and expertise by contributing to HR related projects and initiatives in line with the wider People Strategy.

  • Ensure the school you are allocated is complaint in all aspects of employment in the end-to-end employment lifecycle.

  • Support organisational change activity including restructures, role design and redundancy, preparing supporting documentation and guiding Leaders, unions and employees through each stage.

  • Contribute and support the People Director review and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures and templates, ensuring alignment with current legislation and best practice.

  • Complete end to end recruitment and ensure KCSIE compliance.

  • Prepare reports and analyse HR data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement as required, escalate findings to the People Director.

  • Provide coaching to Leaders on HR policies and best practice people management, building confidence and capability in handling employee matters effectively as required.

  • Ensure compliance with Trust HR policies, values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times.

 

Qualifications and experience
  • CIPD level 3 or above.

  • HRIS system use (ideally iTrent (MHR) but not essential)

  • 1 years’ experience of working in a HR Department in either a HR Officer or HR Advisor role

Overview of what you will be doing:
  • Maintain the HRIS and administer all connected documentation and information to an employee on all systems.

  • Maintain the HRIS carousel, documents, and Trust wide notifications.

  • Monitor HR inboxes.

  • Provide high quality HR advice and guidance directly to Senior Leaders and Line Managers when required to facilitate the early resolution of difficult, complex, or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring that the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed.

  • Support the People Director/HR Advisors in implementing and embedding new strategies and initiatives across the Trust.

  • Monitor and maintain the Home Office sponsorship licence for Trust employees and all associated checks with employees under sponsorship.

    Ensure all employment checks which are recurring are done timely and in line with Trust requirements.

  • Ensure that adequate notes of all formal meetings are made and kept which can be relied upon in subsequent internal meetings and are solicitor ready.

  • Produce reports when requested for Senior Leaders or timetabled.
